Dr Hang Dong
Lecturer
Computer Science
Hi, I am Hang (pronunciation: name Hang on YouTube). I am a Lecturer in Computer Science. I was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Oxford and the University of Edinburgh, working on EPSRC and Health Data Research UK projects. I had a doctoral degree from the University of Liverpool, working on knowledge discovery from text data.
My research interests include (with open access links to previous work):
- Machine learning for data and knowledge: using machine learning and especially, deep learning, for information extraction, entity linking, classification, and ontology enrichment from texts and user-generated data. These tasks transform unstructured data into a structured form.
- Language Models and structured knowledge: exploring ways to integrate Language Models and knowledge graphs, for example, ontologies or domain-specific concepts and relations.
- Healthcare and climate AI applications: Natural Language Processing, multimodal learning, with key applications in automated clinical coding, disease phenotyping, and climate services, by integrating data, text, and images.
- Humans and AI: Automated and human evaluation, modelling for ethical and explainable AI, human-AI collaboration.
